Clearwater police are on the lookout for two men accused of stealing a gun from a security guard outside a Publix store on S Missouri Avenue.
The incident occurred at 7 p.m. when two men, riding bicycles near the store, approached the armed security guard. One of the men grabbed the gun directly from the guard’s holster, causing the guard to fall and sustain minor injuries.
The injured guard was treated at a local hospital. After the assault, the suspects fled the scene on their bicycles, taking the gun with them.
Clearwater detectives are urging anyone with information regarding the identities of the two men accused of stealing a gun from a security guard to contact the Clearwater Police Department at 727-562-4242.
