BELLMEAD, Texas (KWTX) — A Bellmead man, Alejandro Sanchez, 29, was arrested for impersonating a security officer and causing a panic after dropping bags and shouting in a crowded grocery store, according to an affidavit.
Sanchez faces charges of impersonating a security officer and making a false alarm/report.
On June 13, around 2 p.m., officers responded to a call about a suspicious person at Sam’s Club on East Waco Drive in Bellmead.
Upon arrival, store staff reported that Sanchez entered the store wearing a black tactical vest, tan tactical duty belt, and carrying a tan tactical backpack and black briefcase.
Shortly thereafter, Sanchez allegedly dropped the backpack and briefcase near a cash register, shouted something, and left the store, causing a panic among shoppers and prompting a call to the Bellmead Police Department.
Police located Sanchez and found him in possession of a Texas security officer badge and two security patches on his backpack. The affidavit states that Sanchez is not a licensed security officer under Texas Occupations Code, leading to his arrest.
Sanchez is currently held in the McLennan County Jail with bonds totaling $2,000.
