A security officer working for Saint Francis Hospital was arrested Thursday after a backpack was found on the fifth floor containing an illegal firearm.

Police responded to reports of a backpack left unattended in the hospital containing a firearm. Officers found a loaded handgun equipped with a large-capacity magazine, a threaded barrel, and no serial number.

An investigation determined that the backpack belonged to a security officer working at Saint Francis Hospital. After he was located and interviewed, 19-year-old Kamar Camby admitted the firearm belonged to him.

He was taken into custody and charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of a firearm with no serial number, possession of an assault weapon, and possession of a large-capacity magazine.
