Honoring Malcolm Nowlin’s Memory
To honor Nowlin’s memory, friends and family organized a fundraiser at Silky’s Pub in Bloomfield, where Nowlin had also worked. Angelo Franceschini, a cook and bartender at Silky’s, expressed disbelief and sadness at the loss. “It doesn’t feel real. He was just trying to support himself,” Franceschini shared, emphasizing Nowlin’s importance to the Silky’s Pub family.
In a heartfelt tribute, the pub introduced “Malcolm’s Patty Melt” – a special sandwich featuring grilled sourdough, two smash burgers, lettuce, tomato, onion, and both American and Swiss cheese, served with a side. The creation holds special significance as Franceschini recalled making the patty melt for Nowlin, who would enjoy it with waffle fries in the pub’s basement before heading to work.
