A security guard at a 7-Eleven store in Aurora, Colorado, fatally shot a man who allegedly pointed a gun at him during a confrontation Saturday night. The incident occurred at the 7-Eleven on East Colfax Avenue around 9 p.m.
Aurora Police reported that the deceased, a 36-year-old man, approached the security guard from behind and held a gun to the guard’s head. A struggle ensued between the two men for control of the firearm. During the altercation, the security guard managed to draw his own weapon and shot the man.

The wounded suspect was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Police are investigating the incident but indicated that initial evidence suggests the security guard acted in self-defense. The security guard was taken to the Aurora Police Department for questioning as the investigation continues.
