BlackWolf, a ride-hailing service that offers the option of armed drivers, is set to launch in Austin, Dallas, and Houston by early 2025.

Service Overview

Founded by Kerry KingBrown in 2023, BlackWolf differentiates itself by providing drivers with backgrounds in military, law enforcement, or security sectors. The armed ride-hailing service aims to enhance passenger safety, particularly in combating human trafficking. All drivers undergo a thorough vetting process before being approved to operate.

Expansion Plans

Currently operating in major Florida cities, Atlanta, and the Phoenix/Scottsdale area, BlackWolf plans to recruit up to 50 drivers in each of the new Texas markets. The company has gained significant attention on social media, amassing over 1 million followers on platforms like TikTok and Instagram since its inception.

Regulatory Challenges

Despite its popularity, BlackWolf has faced regulatory scrutiny. In 2023, a Georgia judge issued a cease-and-desist order against KingBrown for marketing the company as a private security firm without proper licensing, leading to the revocation of his security guard license. KingBrown contended that the order applied only to his private security company, allowing BlackWolf to continue operations in Georgia. However, investigations revealed that the service continued using armed drivers in Georgia and operated in Phoenix without the necessary permits.

Public Reception and Pricing

Public opinion on BlackWolf’s armed driver option is mixed. Some potential users appreciate the added security, while others question the safety and necessity of armed drivers. Additionally, BlackWolf’s services are priced at a premium compared to traditional ride-hailing options, which may influence user adoption.

Recruitment and Launch Timeline

BlackWolf is actively recruiting drivers in Austin, Dallas, and Houston, aiming to commence services by early 2025. The company seeks individuals with relevant backgrounds to ensure a high standard of safety and professionalism for its clientele.

One Response

  1. BlackWolf should definitely not be in operation by KingBrown. Kingbrown had no licensed security company in Georgia. The idea is good but needs to be operated correctly by someone that is experienced with security and not have a history of operating illegal security operations. Can’t trust someone that can’t follow simple regulations or can’t get licensed.
