A security guard who fatally shot a burglary suspect and injured another has been arrested for voluntary manslaughter, the Sacramento Police Department said.

Around 4:30 a.m. on May 8, two men suspected of breaking into a marijuana dispensary in the 8500 block of Thys Court were shot by 55-year-old Joseph Mills of Sacramento.

One man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the second man arrived at a nearby hospital in stable condition, police said. The identity of the deceased man has not been released.

On Tuesday, Mills was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Jail for the shooting and other weapons-related charges, police said. Any potential witnesses are encouraged to call the police.
