Irving-based Summit Off Duty Services, a leading provider of off-duty police officer security, has been acquired by Connecticut-based Security Services Holdings LLC (Protos Security), a tech-enabled vendor managed security services provider in North America, as announced by Southfield Capital.
Summit specializes in managing onsite security for clients nationwide, leveraging the expertise of over 60,000 police officers from more than 1,400 law enforcement agencies.
This acquisition marks Protos’ 10th since partnering with Southfield, a private equity firm focused on the lower middle market. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Summit President Alex Smith expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, noting the alignment of their mission with Protos in delivering high-quality security solutions. “Our cultures are well-aligned in terms of our business models as we both focus on delivering reliable security solutions through physical security expertise and a tech-forward approach,” Smith stated.
Summit’s extensive network and comprehensive security services provide clients nationwide with access to law enforcement expertise. Protos CEO Mark Hjelle emphasized that the acquisition significantly boosts the organization’s growth, enhancing their off-duty law enforcement services and positioning Protos as the fourth-largest security services provider nationally. “We couldn’t be prouder to have Summit in our portfolio,” Hjelle added.
Southfield Partner Brandon Pinderhughes highlighted the strategic value of the acquisition, stating, “The addition of Summit provides greater scale in the attractive off-duty segment and significantly enhances the range of services available to our valued customers.”
