At its annual ceremony on May 14, the Downtown Alliance paid tribute to seven of its public safety officers for their exceptional contributions throughout the year. From providing aid to injured citizens to assisting the NYPD in apprehending suspects, these officers exemplify dedication and courage in serving Lower Manhattan.
Led by Alliance President Jessica and Director of Public Safety Dave Harvin, the ceremony honored officers who go above and beyond to ensure the safety and well-being of the community. With nearly 50 officers providing round-the-clock coverage below Murray Street, their vigilance and quick actions are instrumental in maintaining peace and security in the area.
Recognized Officers and Their Acts of Valor:
Security Officer Theresa Seignious: Alerted authorities to individuals vandalizing property and intervened in a dispute between fruit vendors, leading to arrests.
Supervisor Francisco Rosario and Akeem Jones: Responded promptly to a scaffold collapse, coordinated emergency response, and ensured pedestrian safety.
Security Officer Nathan Turner: Assisted a fallen individual back into their wheelchair, aided an unconscious passenger in a taxi, and supported a victim of assault.
Security Officer Jeffrey Lissade: Reported and facilitated the apprehension of an assailant, aiding law enforcement in their investigation.
Supervisor Shawn Soto and Security Officer Jeremy Vega: Acted swiftly to address a disturbance and cooperated with police to ensure public safety.
