GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – The Greenville Police Department said a man accused of impersonating an officer was additionally charged on Friday.

Officers said they responded to reports of a person conducting traffic stops on Greenville citizens on Jan. 21. The person was later confirmed not to be a law enforcement officer.

The Criminal Investigations Division later executed a search warrant at a residence near Caledon Court. Detectives found multiple weapons, ammunition, badges, and other law enforcement-style gear, and that the suspect’s vehicle was equipped with blue lights, according to the department.

The suspect was identified as 57-year-old Jose Bello.

Initially, Bello was just charged with impersonating a police officer. On Friday, police said he is now facing additional charges, including a violation related to a private detective and a private security firm.

Officials said Bello had been operating an armed security business without the proper SLED licensing. Additionally, he has been charged with six counts of possession of firearms by an unlawful alien.
